Winter green Tilda

Do you have 'happy' and 'sad' stamps? I've noticed when I'm sad I reach for my Tildas. I've been paper piecing four of them the last two days and it soothes something inside of me. I seem to pull them out when I'm feeling a bit blue.

This fits a sketch challenge at Just Magnolia. I bought this gorgeous, wide ribbon at Michael's a few weeks ago intending to help use it to dress up a Tilda and went searching for a sketch this morning that would suit it. I know it is awfully large, but such a rich ribbon. You can see the sketch challenge here.

I used PTI's Damask Designs on gold cardstock from Gina K's, embossed in gold with gold tinsel embossing powder, to try to match the nature of the ribbon. Tilda is paper pieces with a piece of SU DP, sorry, don't know the type. It has tiny red dots in it, so part of her sleeve is red. Martha Stewart branch punch in two types of gold paper for some of the embellishments. If you look at the sketch there are five graduated circles on it, I used roses with a jingle bell to make a large cluster since I didn't have a large jingle bell and the height would make it near impossible to mail this card if I did. Then I used different sizes of rhinestones for the two smallest circles.

So what are your New Year's traditions? When the kids were younger we used to sit down and make a list of all the things we were thankful for from the previous year and what we would be praying for in the year to come. Its hard to corral them now that most of them are so much older, but I find today a good day to reflect on the blessings of the past year and there are many. Thanks for looking and have a safe, happy and health new year!

I just hope to be a better person in every way.....a goal for every year....lol

this is awesome and that ribbon truly rocks

One of the blessings I would count for 2009 was getting to meet you and spend some time with you, Lois, Traci, and Cindy.....a joyous weekend in Steamboat

Happy New Year

Awesome card, and the ribbon is shear fabulous..
I start every New Years eve with a new notebook to go through the bible. I study in the New Year, and read my bible cover to cover several times a year. When my son was 6 years old he had already been through the bible, and now studies the bible in its original language.
Happy New years

Such a pretty card Peggysue! I love the rich brocade of the ribbon and the repitition of the gold brocade throughout your design!!
I am with Joanne, is was so special to meet you in person and have that time together in Steamboat.
I have no traditions for New Year's...when kids were home we would let them stay up late and play games.

I find this a time of reflection and goal setting and starting over, if only in my head.
Hugs to you!

Beautiful card!

We really don't have any traditions, just eat and played a game. Then when family left I scraped until midnight. Now just hopping before heading to bed.

This is just beautiful!! Love the colors and the paper piecing!!! That's one of my favorite techniques.

I like to make lists and lists of goals and plans for self improvement. I love the hope of a New Year! Last night, on New Year's Eve, I got out a new prayer journal called God's Gracious Invitation. You start with your dreams, so it's perfect to begin a new year with!! We don't have traditions for our kids, but I love what you do!!

(and I live on Lake Superior)

Happy New Year!

This is gorgeous. You are right about that ribbon. Hopefully the blues have left you though. Our biggest tradition is just hanging out together, no big plans. I make lots of snacky foods and we watch movies and play games. Sometimes we invite people over, sometimes we just stay home alone. This year has been such a busy one and time together so little, that we just spent the night together.
