Mustard Seed Faith Challenges...God as Creator

Good morning! It is time for a new challenge at Mustard Seed Faith. This week's theme is God as Creator. There is a sketch challenge and a song by Big Daddy Weave is the springboard for a short devotional. Please come read the thoughts of different design team members on their blogs and play along with us. Wishing you a blessed Sunday and a good week!

Even though I developed the sketch I sort of botched it. I used a circle instead of an oval sort of shape and I moved the sentiment because I splotched my front panel of cardstock. So you see anyone can play along because even the design team members aren't perfect by any means! Thanks for looking.

Stamps: Lil' Inker Designs 'Hootie Patootie', Cardstock: Papertrey Ink Soft Stone, yellow patterned paper, dark grey; PTI woodgrain embossing plate, prismacolor pencils, circle die from My Favorite Things, waterfall stickles, Ranger Distress Ink Weathered Wood, Tsukineko black

Papertrey Ink April blog hop 2017

Good evening! I had so much fun making these cards! Don't you just love stamping? I was smiling the whole time I was working on these.

In my last post I used the whale from Just Keep Swimming and I tell you, he's a lot of fun to use to create a scene! I used Gathered Garden because some of the stamps in the set reminded me of kelp and seaweed. I also decided to resurrect an older stamping tool, the eyelet, to symbolize the bubbles that might rise to the surface if the whale were down there and following the color scheme of the challenge photo.  I can tell you that if you lose one portion of the eyelet setting tool set and try to improvise, you might bang your finger with a hammer. Just sayin'....

For my second card I completely CASEd Kay Miller's idea with the Gathered Garden set layout, although I used the colors from the challenge photo. Makes a great one-layer card!

I have one other idea, but strangely the family wants dinner so I have to go cook now!

Thanks for looking and happy hopping!

Whale Watching

I love color palettes and color challenges, yet I often don't know what to do with the colors unless someone organizes my brain for me with a sketch challenge. So this combines a color and a sketch challenge, to keep my muddled brain organized! Isn't the paint in the color challenge pretty? I'd love to be able to paint!

I wanted to use this whale stamp set because I think the whale is so cute and I had a scrap from a watercolor experiment that fit the stamp perfectly. Then I wondered, how to create a good undersea background? I had another scrap of teal paper and I wondered what it would look like using a broad brush and the bleach technique. I haven't tried bleaching in years. It almost achieves what I had in my thoughts, the swirls and eddies of undersea currents!

I think I will send this to my daughter in California in memory of the whale watching trip we took. We did see four whales in a pod, quite exciting! Thanks for looking and have a great day!

I want to thank the hard-working gals at Paper Playful for listing daily challenges, so nice to have them all in one spot!
