Stampin' Sisters in Christ Challenge 44 . . . Thy Word

Happy Sunday stampers! It is time for another challenge from Stampin' Sisters in Christ. This week's hostess is sweet Candace, who selected this verse, Psalm 119:105 "Thy word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path."

Her challenge is to only use words, no stamped images on your project or card.

Our sponsor this week is Paper Jewels and they are donating a $15 gift card to one lucky recipient chosen randomly from this week's participants. You can check out the main web page to read Candace's thoughts about her chosen verse and to see the creations by the rest of the design team as well.

I used a Verve plain Jane bible verse as well as a sketch they had posted over a year ago, seemed like a nice layout to highlight the verse.

I haven't posted anything since last Sunday's challenge, we are busy getting our house ready to list with a realtor and have been busily decluttering, scrubbing, painting, pulling weeds. If my house looked this good all the time, I'd want to buy it! :) But it also means we're in for a lot of change. In addition to moving (dependent upon finding a buyer) I will have three kids in college this Fall. And employment is very uncertain right now.

What we can count on in the midst of change is the word of the Lord. In the midst of change, the midst of uncertainty, his Word will illuminate the path in front of us, sometimes just one step at a time, but He is faithful to lead us if we will follow Him.

We went on vacation once in Maine in a campground that was completely lights out at ten o'clock. And it was in the middle of nowhere--I mean nowhere. I thought we were going to tear out the undercarriage of the car just driving down the 'road' (and I use that word loosely) to get to our campsite. But once we were there it was beautiful! I've never seen trees that large, a sky so illuminated with stars . . .but when the lights were out and it was cloudy and you had to find your way to the bathroom at midnight??? What an experience! You couldn't see your hand in front of your face! I thought of that verse then, and how for centuries, the world had no electricity. Have you ever been anywhere that had no electricity? Experienced true darkness? You really start to appreciate a flashlight, our modern version of the lamps that for centuries lit the path for people who had to go out at night.

The path that the Word will lead us on, is of course, not a real pathway of paved stones or trodden down dirt in the midst of the woods, but the path that Jesus walked--the path of following God's best for us and trying to emulate Jesus in our own lives. One way to shine God's light so others can see it too is to help others around us, to visibly demonstrate love for one another. What better way to help make God's love tangible and real to a world so often stumbling in the dark?

There is a great song by Matt Maher that I was listening to while I made my card, here is the youtube link, and if for some reason it doesn't work, look up 'Hold us Together' by Matt on youtube. I think you'll enjoy it. He has a line in there that says, 'cuz even in the dark you can still see the light, it's gonna be all right.' Its going to be all right when we rely on the love of God above all things and let it flow through us to others. He loves you, you know. :) Have a great week.

Stamps: Verve plain Jane
Paper: blues, grays and this piece of DP I found in a drawer
Other: silver ribbon, silver gel pen, silver brads, prima flower, butterfly punch, fiskars corner punch, edge punch . . . I think that's it

A beautiful card Peggysue with soothing and wonderful colors and I loved your thoughts on the light to our paths! We used to live in Maine and there is no better place to see the stars IMHO! Glad you are "getting there" in the preparations to list your house! Praying God will lead your paths in this next part of your journey with Him! Hugs!

This is lovely, Peggysue, both your card and your accompanying thoughts!
I am glad to hear of all the progress you have made with your home and do pray that the Lord illumines your future steps and place of residence soon. I pray that He will provide just the right nest for you and your DH to be close to your family and a secure shelter that you can happily call home. Until our heavenly home, that is!

Gorgeous card Peggysue! Love your beautiful flower and shiny ribbon... and that the Word of God is your main focus. Love reading your thoughts on this Scripture. I like out in the country so I don't have to get away from city lights to see God's natural beauty and I'm so thankful for that. Praying for you with the house situation. Have a happy Father's Day!! =)

The thing I miss the most from my camping days of looooonnnnng ago is the stars. My goodness, it is the most stunning thing to behold. I've got to take my kids out to see them sometime. They can't even imagine!

I still can't believe you're doing all that work just to sell your home.

I love your card...

Beautiful card Peggysue! Goodness it sounds like you are really busy--selling a home and moving are huge undertakings. Hopefully it will sell quickly. Nature provides such marvelous sights if we get away from all the city noise and lights--something everyone should experience at least once.
